James has worked with some of the leading names in the dance industry including Matthew Bourne and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and choreographed on companies including Scottish Ballet and Royal Ballet of Flanders. Since his Sadler’s Wells debut after winning the New Adventures Choreographer Award in 2012 his own company have toured internationally to critical acclaim.

 

James teaches a floor work based, Beyoncé inspired class that combines rigorous training with flowing phrases and aims to remove our fixed sense of up and down, front and back. The class begins with practices to centre and strengthen the body and build our connection to the floor which draw on James’s experience as a qualified yoga teacher before building the intensity with dynamic traveling phrases. Most importantly James encourages students to align breath and movement, go beyond their self imposed limitations and not take themselves too seriously.
