Shi Pratt is a dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Norway. She was born in Haifa, Israel and spent her time growing up and dancing both in Israel and the USA. She has worked with a number of international dance companies, including amongst others Batsheva Dance Company, Andersson Dance, Inbal Pinto Dance Company and independent choreographers world wide. Shi continues teaching Ohad Naharin’s Gaga technique, her own choreographic work, GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® and creates dance pieces for the stage and screen and enjoys collaborating with other dancers and artists of other disciplines.

 

Gaga is a technique or movement language developed by Batsheva Dance Companys artistic director Ohad Naharin. Gaga challenges multi layer tasks. There are a series of words that signify particular ways or qualities to initiate movement and the body parts involved that help us achieve the sensation and joy of that movement.

 

The class is meant to allow dancers to experience dynamics of movement that stimulates the senses and the imagination as well as establishing a flow throughout the entire body that allows complete fluidity. Focusing on gaining knowledge and self-awareness through your body in multi dimensional movement, we shall explore our passion to move, physical effort, virtuosity, musicality, individual expression and improvisation. Using the powerful tool of pleasure and guiding images we encourage creativity through our imagination and gain awareness, alertness and playfulness.
